Celebrating World Book Night

23 April 2014

Dreda Say Mitchell talking about her background and getting into writing

Our fourth year for World Book night in 2014 was at Glass Mill Leisure Centre and we were honoured to be the venue for London region. I was delighted to welcome our special guests including Dreda Say Mitchell who was the offical representative with her novel Geezer Girls. Dreda was followed by Sarah Mussi who read from Riot and then Sheila Bugler talked about her detective DI Ellen Kelly.

Finally we heard from Nadeem Masood who offered a different narrative of the London Olympic Games as a Games Maker.

A great evening opened and closed by Sandra Agard the wonderful writer and storyteller whose repertoire includes stories from Africa and the Caribbean. Sandra follow the great tradition of oral storytelling using body language, voice, movement, tension, and timing.

Sharing books on World Book Night as a million books were given away across the UK.
